I absolutely LOVE a super fun DIY wedding with lots of silliness, bands, personality etc. so I decided to do a post on some little gems in Teesside that are not usually thought of as wedding venues but would make an absolutely AMAZING reception venue!
The Georgian Theatre - Stockton-on-Tees
Wikipedia tells me that this is the oldest standing Georgian Theatre in the UK so that's pretty awesome in itself. I absolutely LOVE this venue - we hold lots of events here including Mousetival - a festival we put on annually (named after my husband's band Mouses) - it's such a great little place. The main gig room has festoon lighting that looks absolutely amazing and lots of room to add your own personality and little touches to the room. We put bunting EVERYWHERE for Mousetival and it always looks super cute.
There is an amazing stage with proper lighting and an ace sound system in there perfect for a festival wedding, there is also a projector if you wanted to have anything showing. There is also the new part of the building which is a gorgeous bar and kitchen - I actually went there for food and a little reception after my legal wedding and it was absolutely perfect.
They've got a range of food packages and options etc. to help out - you can see more/get in touch here: https://georgiantheatre.co.uk/
The Social Room - Stockton
Another absolute gem in Stockton - The Social Room is a super new venue that has very recently opened up and is part of KU Stockton. It is located right above KU - I went to check it out during this year's Stockton Calling and it looks absolutely amazing. If you're into those retro vibes this is the reception venue for you!! I fell in love with the place, there is a bar and stage area too!

Base Camp - Middlesbrough
Base Camp is the venue you imagine getting married in in a city. It's sooo DIY in the best quirky little way. It's an absolute maze of a place with lots of little rooms but you walk into an ace little room with so much potential for those smaller weddings, it has a bar and a kitchen too (the food is always absolutely amazing) they have sound for live music as well as also having projector capacities. Having a bigger do - they have 'The Warehouse' too. I've hosted a few markets here and it's a lovely space with loads of room for all the dancing! One of my fav things about Base Camp that makes it a real city like venue is all the epic graffiti/art work around - if that's your thing there are some perfect places for those epic couple shots!
